Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office captures wanted sex offender

Authorities have captured a sex offender they have been searching for since at least Nov. 4, Muscogee County Sheriff Darr announced early Thursday on his Facebook page.

Mariel Antonio Watson, 26, who was wanted on charges accusing him of failing to register as a sex offender and violating probation, was arrested in an undisclosed location by 8:47 a.m. Thursday. His original charges include, but are not limited to, aggravated assault with the intent to rape, battery with harm, third-degree cruelty to children, battery of an unborn child and obstruction, authorities said.

Darr initially announced the search for Watson in a Facebook post made on Nov. 4.
