Opelika man accused of molesting two children in Columbus
A 41-year-old Opelika man has been accused of sexually assaulting two children in Columbus between 2000 and 2005, according to Columbus police.
Elmer Lee Kennedy II, the alleged attacker, was taken into custody Thursday at the Lee County Jail and charged with two counts each of child molestation and sexual exploitation of children. He was transferred to the Muscogee County Jail, where he awaits his preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Saturday.
Officials have released few details about the incident but confirmed that it was reported to have happened near Macon Road between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 31, 2005. More information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
