Gunman fires two shots during sandwich shop holdup

A gunman fired two shots at a sandwich shop employee Friday during an armed robbery on Weems Road, Columbus police said.

The employee wasn’t injured during the 9:39 p.m. robbery at 3705 Weems Road.

Armed with a 9 mm pistol and a red handkerchief covering his face, the gunman entered the business and demanded cash from the register. The robber then fired two shots at the employee without any warning before fleeing from the business.

The gunman was seen running north behind the business. Police found two shell casings from the gunshots.

The robber was described as black. He was wearing a white zip-up hooded sweatshirt, black gloves and khaki cargo pants.
