A block house in the Jordan-Johnson neighborhood was heavily damaged by fire Saturday morning on 13th Avenue, fire officials said.

“It had substantial damage,” Battalion Chief Bryan Watson of the Columbus Department of Fire & Emergency Medical Services said.

The fire started in a back bedroom at 3700 13th Ave. home.

With smoke throughout the neighborhood, it took firefighters about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

Watson said no one was injured during the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but damage to the structure was estimated at $75,000 and $20,000 on its contents, the battalion chief said.
