Man accused of child molestation released from jail on bonds
A 41-year-old Opelika man accused of molesting two children in Columbus between 2000 and 2005 was released from the Muscogee County Jail Saturday after posting bonds totaling $30,000.
Elmer Lee Kennedy II, the alleged attacker, was taken into custody Thursday at the Lee County Jail and charged with two counts each of child molestation and sexual exploitation of children. He was transported to the Muscogee County Jail but released Saturday after posting bonds totaling $30,000.
Officials have released few details about the incident but confirmed that it was reported to have happened near Macon Road between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 31, 2005. More information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
