Woman, 19, charged in two Auburn burglaries on Dekalb Street

Auburn Police announced Monday afternoon in a press release the arrest of a 19-year-old woman accused of two April 2 burglaries on Dekalb Street.

Rachel A. Adams of Auburn, the suspect, was arrested Friday on warrants charging her with two counts each of third-degree burglary, third-degree theft of property and fourth-degree theft of property in addition to one count of second-degree theft of property. She was transported to the Lee County Jail, where she is eligible for bonds totaling $13,000 bond.

Officials said they linked Adams to the two residential burglaries reported to have happened April 2 at two apartments in the 600 block of Dekalb Street. The victims told police that someone stole various electronic devices along with a wallet containing cash and credit cards with a total value of more than $4,000 from their homes, according to the release.

Authorities said video surveillance shows Adams, who also resides in the area where the thefts occurred, using a victim’s stolen credit cards at a local business. When detectives searched her home, they recovered property stolen during the burglary, according to the release.
