Police: Man arrested after exposing himself at Victory Barber Shop

A 42-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly exposed himself and defecated outside of the Victory Barber Shop at 2211 Fort Benning Road, according to testimony Thursday morning in Columbus Recorder’s Court.

Defendant Kenyatta Samar Griffin pleaded not guilty to public indecency. He was ordered held in the Muscogee County Jail under a $1,000 bond, and his case was bound over to Superior Court.

Columbus Police Officer Bradley Waldie said he was conducting a routine patrol when someone flagged him down at the Circle K gas station on Fort Benning Road at 12 p.m. to alert him about a man who had exposed himself outside of the barbershop next door.

“The witness said he saw a man in a squatting position with his pants around his knees,” Waldie said. “I observed black male later identified as Kenyatta Griffin pulling his pants up and walking around the side of the barbershop’s building.”

Waldie said he approached the defendant, who reeked of alcohol. He told the officer that someone other than him “used the bathroom around the corner.”

Police then discovered human feces outside of the barbershop where the defendant was allegedly seen pulling his pants up. He was taken into custody on the scene.

“That side of the barbershop was visible from the parking lot of the Circle K and Fort Benning Road,” Waldie testified.
