Two men charged after authorities find $178,000 worth of meth

A drug investigation the Metro Narcotics Task Force launched in Phenix City in February 2016 has led officials to arrest two men allegedly connected with the nearly two kilos of methamphetamine seized from an undisclosed location.

The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Eric Gutliph and 34-year-old Storm Cooper. Gutliph faces one count each of trafficking methamphetamine, use of a communication device to commit a crime and failure to maintain lane, while Cooper will face one count each of trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

Their preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Columbus Recorder’s Court.

Lt. Debra Bohannon with MNTF has released few details about the investigation but confirmed that it led authorities through Russell County, Harris County and Muscogee County over a two-month span.
