Police identify suspect in Wal-Mart hijacking

Columbus police have identified Shawn “Pookie” Thoman as the suspect in the March hijacking of a car in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Police are seeking help from the public to locate Thoman in the March 15 holdup at 1042 Manchester Expressway store.

A woman told police she was in the parking lot around 10:15 a.m. attempting to place items in the trunk of her 2012 Honda Accord when she heard a male voice. A man was holding a gun when she turned around to face him.

The gunman jumped into the Honda and fled, traveling east on Manchester Expressway. Thoman was identified during an investigation by the department’s Robbery/Assault Unit.

Thoman is described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has several tattoos on his hands and arms.
