Police: Columbus man arrested after claiming criminal gang on Facebook

A Columbus man wanted on an outstanding burglary warrant was arrested on Booker Avenue Tuesday evening after he allegedly claimed a criminal gang on his Facebook account.

Davon Marqua Wallace, 24, faces one count each of first-degree burglary, participation in criminal gang activity, possession of marijuana with the intent and possession of a drug-related objects. He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail, where he was denied bond on the gang charge and awarded bonds totaling $10,250 on the other charges.

He is set to appear in Columbus Recorder’s Court at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities said Wallace was wanted on a burglary warrant when they spotted several photos on his public Facebook account in which he claimed to be a member of a criminal gang called “Solid.” It also featured pictures of him showing gang signs representing a gang named “Gangster Disciple,” police stated in an arrest report.

Officials said they apprehended Wallace at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 900 block of Booker Avenue, where they also found 26.5 grams of suspected marijuana (street value of $265), several grinders, digital scales and plastic bags commonly used when selling narcotics.
