Woman accused in high-speed chase captured at Phenix City hotel

A woman accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in Columbus and Phenix City on Tuesday was taken into custody today at a hotel, police said .

Ieshia Lockett was arrested without incident by members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Phenix City police at a hotel on U.S. Highway 80 in the city. Lockett was wanted on three felony charges of theft of property first degree, Police Lt. Darrell “Skip” Lassiter of Criminal Investigation Division said. Two misdemeanor charges included fleeing and eluding law enforcement and reckless endangerment for a high -speed pursuit on Tuesday.

Police said a chase ensued in Columbus after officers attempted to stop a stolen 2003 black Mercedes Benz. Lockett was chased into Phenix City where authorities searched for her near the 15th Street and Eighth Avenue area but couldn’t locate her.

Officers with the Columbus Police Department, Russell County Sheriff’s Office and Phenix City Police Department took part in the investigation on Tuesday.
