Man shot during home invasion on St. Marys Road

A man was shot early Monday during a home invasion in the 5500 block of St. Marys Road, Columbus Police Lt. Gregg Touchberry said in a press release.

The victim was transported to Midtown Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition, officials said.

Authorities said they were called to the scene around 5 a.m. Monday to investigate the home invasion. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Touchberry said an investigation indicates multiple people were in the residence when two black men dressed in all black clothing and armed with handguns entered the home and demanded the occupants’ money. The victim was shot during the incident, Touchberry said.

Witnesses said both suspects are about 6 feet tall and weigh 175 pounds. One suspect wore a black beanie and glasses.
