Troup County Coroner: Man dies after shooting on East 14th Street
A man who was shot in the head Tuesday in the 1200 block of East 14th Street died early Wednesday at UAB Birmingham Hospital, Troup County authorities said.
Dvonte Tucker, 23, of LaGrange, Ga., was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the head at 9:07 a.m., said Troup County Coroner Jeffrey Cook. Tucker’s body will be transported to the crime lab in Decatur on Thursday for an autopsy.
In a release from the West Point Police Department, authorities were called to the area to check on a shooting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the victim was transported first to G.H. Lanier Memorial Hospital but later airlifted to UAB Birmingham Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
Police are currently pursuing persons of interest in connection with the shooting. Police said they had no information to release on the shooting, although the victim had been pronounced dead.
