Nineteen arrested following drug investigation in Russell County

Nineteen people were arrested Wednesday in connection with a drug investigation in Russell County, according to authorities.

The suspects were apprehended after the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency executed search warrants Wednesday at four Phenix City locations at 1109 Fifth St., 110 block of 16th Ave. South, 107 block of 17th Ave. and 400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway Apt. A-8.

During the searches, police seized a quarter pound of marijuana, eight grams of crack cocaine, controlled prescription medications, two rifles, three handguns and a 12-gauge shotgun. One of the rifles was stolen from Columbus and the one of the handguns was stolen from Phenix City, according to a media release.

The charges included 15 misdemeanors and 14 felonies ranging from drug possession to loitering.
