Benefit ride set to support Harris County Deputy Jamie White
A Back the Blue Benefit Ride has been set to support Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie White, who was shot in the face on May 28 during a traffic stop on Interstate 185, Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr posted on Facebook.
White, who escaped serious injuries from the gunshot wound above his left eye, was released Tuesday from Midtown Medical Center in Columbus. The benefit is June 18 with a 10 a.m. ride from Great South Harley Davidson at 185 Ga. 16 in Newnan to the Chattahoochee Harley Davidson in Columbus.
Fees are $20 per bike, $5 per bike passenger and $25 per vehicle. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. for the ride with law enforcement serving as an escort.
When the ride ends some 60 miles later in Columbus, there will be live music by GP-38 & Ricky Gunn, food from Country’s Barbecue, a 50-50 drawing and raffle for items from several local companies.
All proceeds from the ride go to support White and his family as he recovers from the injury. Supporters are welcome to stop at the Columbus business if they are unable to make the ride.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help White during his recovery. Donations can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/273rymc.
