Woman wandering streets with child charged with reckless conduct
A Columbus woman who was found wandering the streets with her daughter was arrested early Saturday at Third Avenue and 16th Street.
Kizze Williams, 34, was charged with reckless conduct after police determined that she may have been on the streets for two days with the girl. She is held in the Muscogee County Jail for an 8 a.m. Monday hearing in Columus Recorder’s Court.
The woman’s daughter was turned over to a relative after police contacted the Department of Family and Children Services.
In an arrest report, police were called to the intersection at 3:09 a.m. to check on possible child abuse. Officers found Williams and a child sitting on the steps of a closed business.
Police said Williams also was intoxicated and had been drinking liquor from a cup she held in her hand. The area is known for crimes, drugs and violence at night.
A check of records showed that another police officer spotted Williams and her daughter sitting at the bus stop early Friday in the 1400 block of Veterans Parkway. The mother and daughter were wearing the same clothes early Saturday.
