Police: Columbus man, 36, admits to molesting girl
A Columbus man was arrested Thursday morning after he admitted to sexually assaulting an underage girl, authorities said in an arrest report.
Robert Carlton Strickland, 36, faces one count of child molestation. He is the Muscogee County Jail without bond for a 9 a.m. Tuesday preliminary hearing in Columbus Recorder’s Court.
Columbus police said they were questioning Strickland at the Public Safety Center Thursday morning for an unspecified reason when he confessed to molesting a girl. He was arrested at the facility and charged at 10:30 a.m. that day.
Further details concerning the reported sexual assault weren’t immediately released.
