A middle school teacher is accused of one count each of rape second degree and facilitating the travel of a child for an unlawful sex act involving a 14-year-old boy, the Auburn Police Division said Friday.
Brandee Lane Morgan, 43, of Auburn was taken into custody at the police division at 4:15 p.m. Thursday. She is held in the Lee County Jail where bond was set at $55,000.
Police Capt. Lorenza Dorsey said the investigation and arrest of Morgan stem from a Sunday call to police from an anonymous tip. The caller told police that inappropriate behavior involved a boy and the suspect.
Morgan is alleged to have engaged in sexual intercourse with the boy at a residence on Commerce Drive. Warrants were issued for her arrest after a police investigation, Dorsey said.
An arrest report shows that Morgan is employed as a teacher at WF Burns Middle School in Valley, Ala.
