A 47-year-old woman was found dead with multiple apparent stab wounds Wednesday night at Lee County residence in Loachapoka, said Lee County Coroner Bill Harris.
Mickie Chiffone Mack was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:35 p.m. Her body was taken to the medical examiner’s office of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination, Harris said.
Authorities responded around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to a residence on Lee Road 4, where they found Mack unresponsive with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.
Harris said the woman was in her residence when the incident occurred, and there is a suspect in custody. That individual’s name has not been released.
The coroner said deputies are still trying to piece together exactly what happened, but the case is being investigated as a homicide.
