Brock becomes 1st female band director at Clark Atlanta and SIAC

Tomisha Brock has been named director of university bands at Clark Atlanta University.

The announcement was made in June.

According to the school’s website, Brock is not only the first woman to serve as band director at Clark but also the first woman to serve as a band director in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Brock recently served as associate director of bands and assistant professor at Mississippi Valley State University.

She says in the report her goal is to bring “excitement, creativity and revitalization to the CAU band program.”

Brock began singing in the church choir at age 6 and playing the clarinet by age 10.

She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Virginia State University and a Master of Music Education degree from Norfolk State University
