Fundraising records being set at University of Georgia
Fundraising continues to mushroom at the University of Georgia.
According to a report by Katie DeGenova on the school’s website, in the first year of the public phase of the Commit to Georgia Campaign, school donors set a record in fundraising, contributing $227.8 million in new gifts and pledges.
The report released Monday says this is the fourth consecutive year UGA donors have a set a new record for fundraising and the first time in the school’s history that the annual total has surpassed $200 million.
Last year’s total was $183.8 million.
The school says the goal of the campaign is to raise $1.2 billion by 2020 to increase scholarship support, to enhance the learning environment, and to solve the grand challenges facing society.
More than 68,000 donors contributed this year to reach an overall total of $827 million toward the campaign goal.
