Report ranks Georgia Tech No. 7 on list of nation’s best public universities; Georgia, Auburn in top 50
Georgia Tech is ranked among the top 10 public universities in the country in the 2018 Best Colleges listing by U.S. News and World Report.
On a list of 132 public schools, the only ones ranked above Georgia Tech are the University of California, Berkley, UCLA, University of Virginia, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, and the College of William & Mary.
The only school in the Southeastern Conference in the top 10 was the University of Florida at No. 9.
Tech is tied for No. 34 on the list of all national universities, a list consisting of 311 schools.

On the list, the University of Georgia was in a tie for No. 16 among public schools and in a tie at No. 54 on the national list.
Auburn University is ranked in a tie, along with the University of Tennessee and the University of South Carolina, at No. 46 among public schools and 103 on the national list.
The University of Alabama is in a tie at No. 51 on the public list and 110 on the other.
The top 10 national universities according to the report are Princeton University, Harvard University, University of Chicago, Yale University, Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania,Duke University and California Institute of Technology.
From the Southeastern Conference, Vanderbilt was ranked No. 14.
In Georgia, Emory University was ranked No. 21.
