MCSD board excuses two missed days of classes in wake of Hurricane Irma

Muscogee County School District students won't make up the two missed days of classes due to the remnants from Hurricane Irma, thanks to the board approving without dissent the superintendent's recommendation.

“I know everyone is disappointed,” superintendent David Lewis cracked during Monday night’s Muscogee County School Board meeting.

The state allows four days of missed classes due to weather, Lewis said. MCSD was closed Sept. 11 and Sept. 12 as Irma, then a tropical storm, came through the Columbus area.
