A new Miss University of Georgia has been crowned.

A story by Don Reagin on the school website, www.uga.edu, reports Holly Haynes, a fourth-year marketing and fashion merchandising student from Suwanee, Ga., was chosen at the annual scholarship pageant Jan. 20.

She is a graduate of North Gwinnett High School.

The report says the fourth runner-up in the pageant was Liana Mosley, a fourth-year nutrition science major from Savannah, Ga.; third runner-up was Kaylee Ewing, a third-year management information systems and marketing major from Monroe, Ga.; Karson Pennington, a second-year political science and journalism major from Martinez, Ga.; received second runner-up honors, and Kelly Donoghue, a fourth-year marketing major from Atlanta, Ga.; was named first runner-up

“Becoming Miss University of Georgia is an incredible honor that is so special to me,” Haynes said in Reagin’s story. “As a senior, being able to serve and represent the university and community that I have loved since I was 4 years old is incredible, and I cannot wait to give my time and efforts to a place that has given so much to me.”

Haynes will compete in the 74th Annual Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant June 12-16 in Columbus.

The winner of that pageant will represent Georgia in the Miss America Pageant.
