These 5 Columbus-area schools earned top honors in Georgia in 2019

Five metro Columbus schools are among 189 in Georgia that will receive an award for outstanding achievement or improvement on the state’s report card 2019.

The Muscogee County School District has four of the local award winners, and Chattahoochee County has the other:

  • Aaron Cohn Middle School
  • Britt David Magnet Academy
  • Columbus High School
  • Forrest Road Elementary School
  • Chattahoochee County Middle/High School.

The awards from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement are called Highest Performing and Greatest Gains, based on the College and Career Ready Performance Index.

Highest Performing award winners have an average CCRPI content mastery score the past three years that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile. Greatest Gains award winners have an average CCRPI progress score the past three years that ranks in at least the 93rd percentile.

Each award category has four tiers: platinum (99th percentile), gold (97th percentile), silver (95th percentile) and bronze (93rd percentile). Winning schools will receive a banner and a certificate.

Aaron Cohn and ChattCo are among the 26 Greatest Gains platinum award winners.

Britt David and Columbus High are among the 29 Highest Performing platinum award winners.

Forrest Road is among the 34 Greatest Gains silver award winners.
