MCSD postpones virtual graduation ceremonies amid coronavirus. Here’s the new schedule

The Muscogee County School District has rescheduled its virtual graduation ceremonies designed to celebrate the Class of 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

MCSD originally scheduled the online-only events for May 22 so high school seniors and their families could still mark graduation despite COVID-19 precautions preventing traditional in-person gatherings at this time.

“Unfortunately, we were recently notified by WTVM that their national syndication rights were only approved for June 1-5, 2020,” MCSD communications director Mercedes Parham said in a news release. “In the interest of presenting the ceremonies as previously planned, with the highest quality possible, we will move forward with the revised schedule as presented by WTVM below.”

You can watch the ceremonies on WTVM’s television broadcast, its Facebook page or its website at the following dates and times:

June 1

  • 10 a.m. Carver
  • 10:37 a.m. Columbus

June 2

  • 10 a.m. Catapult Academy
  • 10:18 a.m. Northside

June 3

  • 10 a.m. Hardaway
  • 10:49 a.m. Spencer

June 4

  • 10 a.m. Kendrick
  • 10:37 a.m. Jordan

June 5

  • 10 a.m. Rainey-McCullers
  • 10:29 a.m. Shaw

MCSD is also planning in-person graduation ceremonies to be conducted in the Columbus Civic Center in July.
