Meet the new chief operations officer for the Muscogee County School District
The Muscogee County School District has a new chief facilities and operations officer.
During its monthly meeting Monday night, the MCSD board unanimously approved, without public discussion, superintendent David Lewis’ recommendation to hire Travis Anderson from Durham (N.C.) Public Schools, where he has been executive director of facilities and maintenance services the past two years.
According to his resume attached to the board’s agenda and his LinkedIn account, Anderson has been principal owner of a real estate consulting business, TA Consulting, since 2009. His previous positions include:
- Senior portfolio manager for Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Schools from 2017-19
- National operations specialist for American Campus Communities in Austin, Texas, from 2012-14
- Operations director for Campus Living Villages in Australia from 2010-12
- Student life and residential services director for Capitol Technology University in Laurel, Md., from 2007-10
- Residential facilities coordinator for North Carolina Wesleyan College from 2006-07
- Co-curricular planning and programming director for Fisher College in Boston from 2004-06
- Social studies teacher for Newport News (Va.) Public Schools from 2002-04
- Park operations supervisor for Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla., from 1997-2002.
Anderson is completing a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in project management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education with a concentration in history and political science from Old Dominion University.
He succeeds David Goldberg, who served as MCSD’s facilities and operations chief for six years before retiring in August.
Lewis told the Ledger-Enquirer he selected Anderson out of 15 applicants, including five who were interviewed in person.
“Mr. Anderson’s credentials, related experiences and articulated vision for the position made him a leading candidate throughout the three rounds of the interview process,” Lewis said in an email.
