Two schools in Harris County are closed Friday because of a lack of water.

Park Elementary School and the alternative school called the Education Opportunity Center canceled Friday’s classes after the City of Hamilton notified the Harris County School District that the water supply at the adjacent schools wasn’t adequate in the wake of Thursday night’s storms, HCSD assistant superintendent for business services and technology Dr. Justin Finney said in a news release.

“We apologize for the last-minute notice,” he said.

Operations in HCSD’s other schools weren’t affected.

“For the Park students who were already on the school bus, the buses will bypass Park and deliver the Creekside students to their school,” the news release says. “Then drivers will then drop the elementary students at Park. Parents will be notified regarding how to pick up their child at Park, or when buses can bring them home.”
