Rigdon Road Elementary School principal Charleen Robinson dies. Funeral arrangements set
Charleen Robinson, principal of Rigdon Road Elementary School, has died.
The Muscogee County School District announced her death in a news release Friday. She died Thursday from unspecified health issues.
Robinson worked in MCSD for 26 1/2 years. She started at Eastway Elementary School (now named Lonnie Jackson Academy). She also was an academic coach before being promoted to assistant principal, shared between Martin Luther King Jr. and South Columbus elementary schools, then Rigdon Road principal for the past 14 years.
“Principal Robinson was a highly committed educator and leader who loved her school and the children and community she served. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will never be forgotten,” MCSD superintendent David Lewis said in the news release. “The Muscogee County School District extends our deepest condolences to the Robinson family during this difficult time.”
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. March 5 at St. Marys Road United Methodist Church in Columbus, followed by interment in Evergreen Memorial Park, according to Taylor Funeral Home.
