‘Always a gentleman.’ How the late Edward Robinson led in Harris County Schools

Edward Franklin Robinson, retired assistant superintendent of the Harris County School District, has died.

Robinson died March 12 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, according to his obituary. He was 95.

His funeral was scheduled as a graveside service at 11 a.m. March 18 at Green Acres Cemetery in Columbus.

Robinson worked in HCSD for 42 years, according to the district’s news release. He also was principal of the former Harris County Carver High School and director of HCSD’s Title I and Title II federal programs.

“Mr. Robinson was a faithful educator who was extremely knowledgeable about the federal programs he administered for the school district,” Susan Andrews, retired HCSD superintendent and now the District 5 representative on the Harris County Commission, said in the news release. “He was always a gentleman and a gentle man. It was always my pleasure to work with him.”

Robinson served as deacon, trustee and member of the finance committee and choir at First African Baptist Church.
