Columbus school getting new principal in leadership structure change
A Columbus private school will have a new principal when students return for classes after summer vacation.
St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School, which educates students in preschool through 12th grade, has announced the promotion of Carolyn Brewster to principal of the high school, effective July 1.
Brewster will assume the responsibilities of high school principal from Ronie Collins, who will focus on being St. Anne-Pacelli’s president. The leadership structure was changed to accommodate the school’s enrollment growth, St. Anne-Pacelli spokeswoman Jennifer Sillitto told the Ledger-Enquirer.
High school enrollment at St. Anne-Pacelli has grown from 183 to 287 students in grades 9-12 during the past seven years, according to the numbers Sillitto provided.
Brewster has been an educator for 10 years, including St. Anne-Pacelli’s high school assistant principal the past four years. She has taught middle school math, language arts, physical education and high school English. She began teaching 11th-grade religion at St. Anne-Pacelli in 2015. She also has worked in administrative support for two school years at the school. Before joining St. Anne-Pacelli, she taught at Palo Alto Middle School in Killeen, Texas, and Holy Rosary Catholic School in Tacoma, Washington.
”I am a firm believer in Catholic education and feel extremely blessed to be part of the St. Anne-Pacelli family,” Brewster said in the news release.
Brewster earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Baylor University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Columbus State University,
“Her love for St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School, along with her dedication to Catholic education, will make her a strong asset in providing an environment to develop each student in the school’s four core values of faith, honesty, loyalty and respect,” Diocese of Savannah Superintendent for Catholic Schools Carrie Jane Williamson said in the news release.
