Promotion of principal among 8 proposed leadership changes in Muscogee school district
Eight leadership positions in the Muscogee County School District will be filled next week if the board approves the superintendent’s recommendations.
Superintendent David Lewis has proposed the following promotions for the board to vote on during its May 16 meeting, according to the agenda:
- Christine Hull, from principal of Hardaway High School to MCSD executive director of preK-12 curriculum and instruction.
- Brandi Hoskin, from senior staff accountant to MCSD director of accounting.
- Derrielle Morris, from fifth-grade teacher at St. Marys Road Magnet Academy to assistant principal at Baker Middle School.
- Ebony Robinson, from dean at Dawson Elementary School to assistant principal at Davis Elementary School.
- Sonia Moore, from dean at Key Elementary School to assistant principal at Dorothy Height Elementary School.
- Erin Sizemore, from special education teacher at Eagle Ridge Academy to assistant principal at Eagle Ridge.
- Shawn Fisher, from MCSD program specialist for federal programs to assistant principal at Shaw High School.
- Garrick Church, from behavior dean at Spencer High School to assistant principal at Spencer.
Hull would succeed Lorrie Watt, who retired. She would be one of two executive directors in the MCSD Division of Teaching and Learning under chief academic officer Keith Seifert. The other executive director, Tim Smith, is in charge of federal programs.
The Ledger-Enquirer didn’t reach an MCSD official before publication to explain why the other positions on the agenda are vacant. Hoskin would be one of two directors in the MCSD Division of Financial Services under chief financial officer Janice Bloodworth. The other director, Joseph Edwin, is in charge of purchasing and supply.
Here’s more information about each of the recommended candidates, according to the agenda and their resumes:
Christine Hull
Hull has been an educator for 19 years, all in MCSD. She began her teaching career in January 2003 as a long-term substitute at Hardaway. In August 2003, she was hired as an English teacher at Northside High School. She was promoted to assistant principal at Northside in 2013, director of the St. Elmo Center for Gifted Education in 2016 and principal of Hardaway in 2020.
After graduating from Hardaway as the Class of 1999 valedictorian, Hull earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree in the same subject from Columbus State University and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from CSU. She was MCSD’s Teacher of the Year in 2009 and one of 10 finalists for the Georgia Teacher of the Year award in 2011.
Brandi Hoskin
Hoskin has been an accountant for 15 years, including the past six as MCSD senior staff accountant. She previously worked in various accounting positions in Birmingham for Greenbrier Rail Services, MAA Communities via Accountemps, SPM, Diagnostic Health Corporation, Surgical Care Affiliates and DST Health Solutions via Kelly Services. She also was a freelance accountant in Huntsville.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Troy University and a master’s degree in accounting and financial management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Derrielle Morris
Morris has been an educator for 18 years, including the past two teaching math, science and social studies in grades 4-5 at St. Marys. Morris previously worked as an educational curriculum coach at Arts Now Learning in Atlanta, assistant principal and instructional training and development coach in Jacksonville, Florida, an assistant principal, math coach and teacher in Gwinnett County and a teacher in DeKalb County and Randolph County.
Morris earned an associate’s degree in childhood education from Darton College, a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree in education with a concentration in instructional technology from Troy State University and a specialist’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
Ebony Robinson
Robinson has been an educator for 14 years, all in MCSD, including the past two as dean at Dawson. She previously was a teacher in grades 2-3 at North Columbus Elementary School and an academic coach at Wynnton Arts Academy.
She earned all her college degrees in early childhood education: an associate’s degree from Columbus Technical College and bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degrees from Columbus State University.
Sonia Moore
Moore has been an educator for 15 years, including the past six as dean at Key. She previously was a lead teacher at Key, a Title I resource teacher, computer lab manager and parent contact at now-closed Muscogee Elementary School and a special education paraprofessional (location not noted).
Moore earned a bachelor’s degree in humanities and social science from Auburn University, a master’s degree in elementary education from University of Phoenix, a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from Columbus State University and a doctorate in educational leadership from University of Georgia.
Erin Sizemore
Sizemore has been an educator for nine years, all in MCSD, including the past eight as a special education teacher at Eagle Ridge. She previously was a special education paraprofessional at Eagle Ridge and an MCSD substitute teacher.
She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in early childhood education from Columbus State University and an educational leadership certificate from CSU.
Shawn Fisher
Fisher has been an educator for 26 years, including the past five as a federal programs specialist for MCSD. He previously was an instructional technology specialist at Spencer High School, technology and magnet coordinator at St. Marys, second-grade teacher, math, reading and technology specialist and music teacher at Downtown Elementary School, music teacher at Rigdon Road and Georgetown elementary schools, assistant football coach and head boys soccer coach at Shaw High School, music teacher, theater director and technology coordinator at Berta Weathersbee Elementary School in LaGrange and assistant football coach and head boys and girls soccer coach at Troup County High School.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Troy State University, a master’s degree in instructional technology from Troy, a specialist’s degree in education with an emphasis on technology from University of Missouri and an educational leadership certificate from Columbus State University.
Garrick Church
Church has been an educator for 23 years, all in MCSD, including the past four as behavior dean at Spencer. He previously was a teacher, math department chairman and head track & field and cross country coach at Hardaway. He also was a part-time faculty member in the math department at Columbus State University.
He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in math from CSU and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from CSU.
