Top school district officials: Eight make over six figures
Update (9/17/13): The Muscogee County School Board approved the hiring of Rebecca Braaten as the assistant superintendent to David Lewis. Her salary will be $122,500.
Original story: Muscogee County School District Superintendent David Lewis proposed the hiring of an assistant superintendent of education at a work session Monday night.
For the job, he is nominating Rebecca Braaten, who worked with Lewis in the Polk County School District.
Braaten is currently the senior director of K-12 science and acceleration in Polk County. She has served in several other positions in that district, including director of academic rigor and secondary curriculum.
The Muscogee County School District has not had an assistant superintendent of education since Robin Pennock retired in June 2008. John Phillips was the superintendent at that time.
Braaten's salary would be $122,500, slightly more than the $120,540 the district's six chief officers earn. Pennock's salary was $128,658 when she retired in 2008.
