Melanie Bastien is the choice of Muscogee County School Superintendent David Lewis for the role of shared assistant principal at Gentian Elementary School and Reese Road Elementary School.
The recommendation by Lewis is on the agenda of a Muscogee County School Board work session to be held Monday at 5 p.m. in the Muscogee County Public Education Center on Macon Road.
Bastien currently is a Title 1 academic coach.
She has been with the Muscogee County School District since 2007.
Bastien has served as a teacher at St. Mary's Elementary Magnet Academy. She has also been a shared academic coach for Key Elementary and Waddell Elementary.
In other business:
The board will discuss repairing the stage at Arnold Middle School. The existing stage is 55 years old. Dry rot , mold and mildew have damaged the existing wood structure and the floor has dropped more than two inches in one area of the stage making it no longer usable.
At the request of a board member, the board will discuss administrative procedures pertaining to the expenditure of activity funds.
The board will hear an update from Ginger Starling on the school district's Race to the Top efforts.
The board will receive a report from Chattahoochee Valley Libraries and the Columbus Museum as well as on all school district construction projects.
