These Muscogee and Harris County schools are Georgia Literacy and Math Leaders
Twenty-three Columbus area schools are among the several hundred in the state to be honored by the Georgia Department of Education as a 2024-25 Literacy Leader School or a Math Leader School.
The awards honor schools that demonstrated extraordinary achievement or growth in reading or math during last school year, measured by the state’s end-of-grade or end-of-course standardized tests in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System.
“The schools recognized as Literacy Leaders and Math Leaders have shown a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the tools to succeed,” GaDOE superintendent Richard Woods said in a news release. “I’m proud to honor their work and the positive impact they’re making on students across our state as we work to prepare all students for life.”
Out of approximately 2,300 public schools in Georgia, 406 qualified as Literacy Leaders by meeting the criteria and 479 qualified as Math Leaders by meeting the criteria.
