Each year, Harris County's Creekside School hosts an event known as Schoolwide Read. From mid-October through mid-November, the entire student body, which includes about 800 students, reads the same novel and participates in a content-related activity week created by Creekside faculty. The book selected was "Chasing Vermeer" by Blue Balliett. For Book Character Costume Day, students dressed as their favorite book character. Portraying their favorite book characters are, from left, Cameran Hamlin as Cleopatra from "The Egypt Game"; Teacher Ms. Martin as Mary Poppins from the "Mary Poppins" series; Mackenzie Wright as the wolf in "White Fang"; and Madison Kinard as Fern from "Charlotte's Web."
