The George Walton Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored the winners of the annual American History Essay Contest.
The title of the essay was "A Colonial Family's Reaction to the Stamp Act."
They are, from left, Luke Majors, St. Luke Middle School; Jessica Shipp, Aaron Cohn Middle School; Chapter Regent Lynne Tate; Tamellia Caine, Allen Elementary; Gehrig Harris, Double Churches Middle School and American History Co-chairman Peggy Gindville.
Each winner received a bronze medal, a certificate and $25. There were more than 200 essays submitted this year. Luke was also the Central West district winner. His essay will be sent to the state competition. The other winning essays will be judged in the district competition.
