Muscogee County School District to conduct 2 public hearings
The Muscogee County School District has announced two public hearings to explain and answer questions about the proposed waivers the administration is seeking from state education rules.
The first hearing will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Northside High School, 2002 American Way. The second hearing will be Thursday at 6 p.m. in Carver High School, 3100 Eighth St.
The waivers are contracts between the Georgia Board of Education and the local school board. They free school districts from certain requirements in exchange for promises to improve performance.
The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement monitors the school districts’ waiver goals, in addition to current accountability measures, and annually reports their progress to the state the board. If any of the waiver goals aren’t met for at least three years, the office will recommend consequences to the state board.
