Combative man takes on two firefighters, one police officer

Two firefighters and one officer had to be flagged down to subdue a combative man Sunday on Northfield Drive, according to a Columbus Police report.

Officers didn't detail what began the confrontation between 28-year-old Joshua Gillenwaters and law enforcement at about 4:10 a.m. However, reports indicate the wrestling match lasted 23 minutes, during which time Gillenwaters allegedly punched, kicked and spat on the three officials.

No injuries were reported for the firefighters or the police officer.

Gillenwaters was charged thrice with felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
