Georgia has a new millionaire. One lucky Mega Millions player cashes in a $1 Mil ticket.
Look out, there’s a new millionaire in town.
No one won in the Mega Millions jackpot drawing on Tuesday, but there was still a big winner in the Peach State.
Someone with a ticket that matched all five numbers was able to cash in at a hefty $1 million. Had the player spent an extra dollar on the multiplier, the winnings would’ve doubled. The ticket was one mega ball number away from claiming the jackpot.
Odds of this happening are 1 in 12,607,306 and the winning ticket was sold at Sunrise Market in Rossville in Walker County.
The luck didn’t stop there. There were several other winners across the state, too.
Three people won $10,000 and 31 people won $500.
The jackpot now stands at $640 million and the next drawing for the Mega Millions jackpot is Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 p.m.
To purchase tickets online, you can visit the Georgia Lottery website and select Mega Millions under the “Games” tab.
