DoorDash delivery driver shot by another motorist tailgating her, California cops say

Screengrab from KABC video

Someone in another car shot a woman making a DoorDash delivery late Tuesday night in Los Angeles, authorities told news outlets.

The woman told Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators that someone in a silver sedan that had been tailgating her shot at her twice in La Mirada at 11:40 p.m., KABC reported.

The woman drove away and called 911 after realizing she’d been shot in the torso, KCBS reported. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

“She was a DoorDashing, a car got behind her and just started shooting,” friend Beshawn Hayes told the station.

The shooting may be connected to an earlier incident in Whittier in which someone in a silver sedan rammed and shot at another vehicle, shattering its window, KTTV reported.

“We think it might have been the same people, possibly a local gang,” Sgt. Rodney Gutierrez of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department told the station. No one was hurt in the first shooting.

Investigators ask that anyone with information on the incidents call the department’s Norwalk Station at 562-863-8711. Anonymous tips can be left at Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
