A hiker in the woods near Monson required rescue after he plunged 30 feet into an underground water storage tank, Massachusetts police said.
The 32-year-old man fell into the tank at about 8 p.m. Monday, March 21, police said on Facebook.
Emergency crews spent about three hours rescuing the man, who had been hiking with a friend when he fell, WBZ reported. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities believe the tank used to serve the Monson Developmental Center, police wrote.
Monson is a town of 8,800 people east of Springfield, Massachusetts, near the Connecticut border.
