A North Carolina singer-songwriter conquered her nerves — and blew away the judges on “America’s Got Talent.”

Dani Kerr took to the show’s stage to perform an original song. But after noticing she was nervous, judge Simon Cowell stopped the audition and gave her a second chance to sing, according to video from the episode that aired June 20.

“I think you were really nervous, and I could tell how important this is to you,” Cowell said. “Let’s try that again.”

Kerr transitioned to another original song and aced her second performance, the NBC show said. The singer received a standing ovation and praise from the judges, allowing her to advance to the next round of the competition.

“You sound amazing,” said Sofia Vergara, one of the four celebrity judges who allowed the singer to move forward on the show.

Kerr is from Statesville, North Carolina, roughly 40 miles north of Charlotte. The 23-year-old has been interested in music for years but wasn’t comfortable with performing at first.

“When I was a little kid, I never thought that I would even have the courage to sing in front of one person and it’s just — it’s so crazy to be here,” Kerr told the judges, adding that the opportunity was “a dream come true.”

Kerr, whose Facebook page said she “sends out flavors of soul & rock n roll,” made her mark when she belted out her own lyrics and played guitar on “America’s Got Talent.” The performance drew comparisons to Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus.

“I love your songs,” Cowell said. “I think you’re a great writer — authentic. And importantly, your voice is so distinctive.”
