Authorities investigating death of Syracuse sprinter at NYC hotel

Medical examiners say more tests are needed to determine the cause of death of a Syracuse University sprinter in a Times Square hotel room during spring break.

An autopsy of Sabrina Cammock was conducted Sunday, but medical examiners’ spokeswoman Julie Bolcer says further studies are to be done.

The 21-year-old Cammock was found around 9:20 a.m. Saturday in a room at the Hotel Edison. Police say there were no signs of criminality.

Raised in Queens, Cammock was studying public health at Syracuse’s David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.

Cammock has run track there for four years, specializing in sprinting. She competed as recently as last week.

Coach Chris Fox says Cammock was “a wonderful and remarkable person.”
