Want to vote by mail in Georgia? Here’s what to know

Election Day is rapidly approaching and with it, a number of deadlines regarding voting in person, via mail or early voting.

Here are the mail-in voting basics for Georgia residents.

How do I get a mail-in ballot?

To request a mail-in ballot, log into your My Voter Page, run by the Secretary of State’s office. Once you’re logged in, scroll down until you see “Absentee Ballot Request Information”. From there, you can download an absentee ballot application.

What do I do with my completed ballot?

Once completed, send it to the county Registrar’s Office. There are a number of ways to do that:

  • By mail: They can be mailed to the registrar’s office at P.O. Box 1340, Columbus, GA 31902
  • By fax: Ballots are accepted via fax at 706-225-4394.
  • By email: If you want to email your ballot, you can do so at muscogeeelectionsandregistration@columbusga.gov.
  • By drop box: Absentee ballots are also accepted in a drop box located at 3111 Citizens Way.

How do I check the status on my ballot?

You can check the status of your absentee ballot online on your My Voter Page.

When is the last day to register to vote in the November general election?

According to the Secretary of State’s website, the last day to register to vote is Oct. 5.

How do I register to vote?

You can register to vote two ways: Online or via mail.

To be eligible, you must be a citizen of the United States and a legal resident of the county, among other qualifications.
