Columbus mayor extends hours at these public pools for the summer
Carver Park and Rigdon Park will have longer hours during the summer months, according to a May 18 administrative order issued by Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson.
Columbus Code Section 4-41.1 says public parks are typically closed to the public between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The hours in Carver and Rigdon parks were reduced during the fall and winter for security reasons, according to the order, but it was agreed that they should be open longer during the summer to meet the recreational needs of the public.
Beginning May 19, Carver Park will close at 8 p.m. and reopen at 6 a.m. for the season, the order says. At the end of the season, the first weekend after the splash pad closes, the park will close at 7 p.m.
Beginning May 27, Rigdon Park will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. After the Rigdon Park pool closes for the season, the park will close at 7 p.m.
When the Carver Park Splash Pad and the Rigdon Park Pool reopen in spring 2027, the closing times will move to 8 p.m. again.
These operating hours do not apply to organized activities under the supervision of the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, the order says, and will remain in effect through the 2027 pool season.
Information about the fees to use the city’s pools and splash pads, along with hours, can be found on the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department website.
