2 chances this week for public input on Columbus development and revitalization

Columbus residents have two opportunities this week to hear from and speak to city officials about community development and neighborhood revitalization.

These events, hosted by the Columbus Community Reinvestment Department, will be conducted:

  • June 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Columbus Council chamber at the City Services Center, 3111 Citizen Way.
  • June 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Frank D. Chester Recreation Center, 1441 Benning Drive.

In the news release announcing these events Monday, the Columbus Consolidated Government explained the June 10 gathering will be a public hearing for residents to learn about and offer input on the 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan, the FY27 Annual Action Plan and the Amended Citizen Participation Plan.

“These plans help guide the city’s use of federal housing and community development funds and establish priorities for addressing housing, infrastructure, economic development and community needs over the next several years,” the news release says.

The gathering June 11 will be a public meeting focusing on the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area Study for South Columbus.

“Residents will have the opportunity to learn about the study’s goals, discuss neighborhood priorities and provide feedback that will help shape future revitalization efforts in the area,” the news release says.

For more information about the hearing and the meeting, contact department director Rob Scott at 706-225-3918 or scott.robert@columbusga.org.
