Election 2020: Latest election results for District 3 seat on Muscogee County School Board
One-term incumbent Vanessa Jackson has defeated challenger Sherrie Aaron for the District 3 seat on the Muscogee County School Board.
With all six of the district’s precincts reporting late Wednesday afternoon, Jackson received 69% (2,960) of the 4,294 votes, according to the Muscogee County Board of Elections and Registration.
The only votes that haven’t been counted in the race are nine unresolved write-ins. All results are unofficial until they are certified by the five-member county elections board.
Jackson, 56, is director of the Childcare Network. She graduated from Hardaway High School and earned an associate’s degree in early childhood education from Columbus Technical College. She has 25 years of experience in early childhood education and 20 years in management.
Aaron, 37, is from Oakland, California, and joined the U.S. Army after high school. She served for eight years before medically retiring in Columbus. She is founder and president of Sybil’s House, a residential program for girls ages 10-12. She earned a GED in 2006.
