Early voting and absentee ballots for 2024 election. When, where and how in Columbus area

Early voting for the Nov. 5 election in Georgia starts Oct. 15, and the last day to request an absentee ballot in the state is Oct. 25.

Here are the places in the Columbus area to vote in advance and submit your absentee ballot.

Muscogee County

Three locations in Muscogee County will be open for early voting every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Oct. 15 through Nov. 1:

  • City Services Center, 3111 Citizens Way
  • Columbus Technical College, Carl Patrick Hall, 928 Manchester Expressway
  • Shirley Winston Recreation Center, 5025 Steam Mill Road

Applications for absentee ballots may be requested online at MVP.sos.ga.gov. When you complete the application, submit it at the Muscogee County Board of Elections and Registration office, 3111 Citizens Way, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Completed absentee ballots may be submitted three ways:

  • In the drop box at the City Services Center while it is open during the hours of early voting
  • At the elections office during business hours
  • By mail

Harris County

Early voting in Harris County will be available Oct. 15 through Nov. 1, Monday through Friday, plus two Saturdays: Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the elections office which is located at 757 Carver Circle in Hamilton.

Applications for absentee ballots may be requested at the elections office or online at the Georgia secretary of state’s website.

Completed absentee ballots may be submitted in the drop box during the hours of early voting at the elections office and until 7 p.m. on Election Day. Or they can be mailed to the office, as long as they are received by 7 p.m. Nov. 5.

Chattahoochee County

Early voting in Chattahoochee County will run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, from Oct. 15 to Nov. 1. Early voting will also be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on two Saturdays, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26, at the elections office at 215 McNaughton St. in Cusseta.

Applications for absentee ballots may be requested online at Chattahoochee County’s website, ugoccc.com, via the elections tab under the departments menu option or at the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.

Completed absentee ballots may be mailed to the elections office or submitted in the drop box at that location.
