Donald Trump is visiting a Middle Georgia church with Lt. Gov. Burt Jones. What to know.
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled make an appearance in Middle Georgia Wednesday to host a town hall focused on religion.
The town hall will also feature remarks from Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones.
The event will be held at a church in Zebulon. Trump plans to show support for Israel amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas War and discuss prayer in public schools, according to the campaign.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that religious freedom remains a cornerstone of the nation.” the campaign said in a press release.
During his previous campaigns, white evangelical Christians were a key demographic for Trump, with 8 in 10 white evangelical Christian voters supporting him, according to the Associated Press. The Pew Research Center found that about 59% of white people who attend religious services monthly or more often voted for Trump in 2020.
Both Trump and his opponent, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, have focused major attention on Georgia in the final weeks before the election. While Trump has made appearances in Atlanta and Savannah, this will be his first visit to Middle Georgia this cycle.
Trump is set to deliver his remarks at 3 p.m., with doors to the event opening at noon. General admission tickets were available online Tuesday.
